Question:
Dear Professor Banerji, I am going through your lectures and currently I am in lecture 7. I am confused about the complex planes and why u(t)= rho*sin(omegabar*t-theta) was plotted in complex plane. Also I am confused about angles taken from complex axes, and some from real axis as in R.Clough boo

Question:
Sir, I have attended lecture 6 and & where mostly the Argand diagram is discussed. All went well. But one thing I couldn't make out is the practical or physical significance of the Argand diagram. Specially incase of resonance and theta greater than 90 degree. I cant write more though I wish to.

Question:
sir can u please tell how to find the solution of a non linear equation of motion using newmarks method. For example for the given equation of motion { mu''+Function(u)=P(t) }, where Function(u) is spring force which in not a linear function of displacement, is to be solved using newmarks method

Question:
In the 3-storey example: With mode #1, I assumed phi1= 1.0 (which made phi2= 2 and phi3= 3). In the video, the mode shape is 0.6375, 1.2750, 1.9125. How was this normalized? I have not been able to replicate it after many attempts. grant.horeczy@deereault.com
