Question: in lecture 8,prof. kastha mentions that it is preferable to do no-load test in a 1-phase transformer by applying the voltage across a variac rather than a large supply with resistance in series to drop the extra voltage just bcoz hysteresis loop in later case leading to large current peak(harmonic)

Question: (continuing from last question..)but even if one applies supply voltage with a variac then also due to nonlinear nature of transformer core, currents do turn nonsinusoidal and large current peak occur thru 3rd harmonic summation.so how doing no load test with variac on this ground is justified?
