Question: Please explain what is the silica equivalence of alumina..

Answer: Both silica and alumina are acidic and require oxygen ions to break their respective three dimensional network. silica needs 2 oxygen ions to break all the four bonds of Si and to produce SiO4 (4-) ion. Similarly you can consider for alumina also. Silica equivqaence to alumina is considered from their behaviour point of view
