Summary:
NPTEL Course - Specific Workshop was organized by NPTEL, IIT Madras at the IC &SR Conference Halls (Hall 1 & Hall3), IIT Madras on April 5th and 6th, 2011.
Prof. G. Srinivan, Institute Coordinator NPTEL, IIT Madras welcomed the gathering and gave insight about the workshop. Dr K. Mangala Sunder, National Coordinator - Web Courses gave his inaugural address. He gave a brief summary of the vision and mission of NPTEL. He stressed the importance of the purpose and intent of any such e-content development programme and how one should make the best use of them in the absence of a good teacher/peer group.
The workshop brought several college faculty members under one roof to discuss the coverage of NPTEL courses, learn from the workshop and gain experiences and plan actions for rolling - out similar learning experiences in respective colleges. It aimed at evolving a model through which a pool of highly capable and talented faculty who might be young and inexperienced otherwise be motivated to teach well and take up the career as a permanent opportunity. Plenary Session speakers were SMEs who have developed the course under NPTEL Phase I. There were 6 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who took part in this workshop. This workshop focused 6 courses from Mechanical Engineering and Management branches. The participants were grouped in their respective branch session and the sessions were held parallel for two days.
On 5th April, In the post lunch session, Prof. K. Mangala Sunder expressed his happiness and thanked SMES for their extended wholehearted support and participants were provided with certificates and TA reimbursement, followed by the collection of feedback forms. |
